Aquafest Heats Up the Nautical Mile

Live music, DJs and beach themed parties can be found along the Nautical Mile for Aquafest.

Take the on Lake St. Clair, add waterfront fun with a dash of summer heat and you've got Aquafest: a weekend filled with fun for everyone.

But once the kiddies return home tuckered-out, it's time for the adults to come out and indulge in the nightlife playground.

Though the day brings plenty of family fun, the night belongs to the party czars and czarinas and Patchhas your line-up of the night's hottest spots.

Brownie's is gearing up with live music on Friday from Boomtown and a DJ, but the big fun is slated for Saturday night when party maestros Skip D and DJ Mike Scroggs throw the Nautical Mile's Nauti'est Bikini Contest.

"We had such a great turnout for the Fourth of July event we just knew we had to do it again for Aquafest," Skip D DeKeyre states. "We've got more girls, a $500 prize, and just the best atmosphere on the water you'd want to be at."

The evening's festivities will also feature an exclusive Port Paradise giveaway from Bud Light, an appearance from the Bud Light girls and local radio 89x street team on hand with freebies, and live music from Mainstreet Drive.

Sunday, Brownie's welcomes Cliff Erikson, Jenn and Royce to entertain the crowd and provide the finale for their weekend.

has DJ Jerry Curtis geared up for Friday, and DJ Mike Anthony -- voted one of Macomb County's Top 5 DJs -- set to spin on Saturday. Know what else? There's no cover.

may be on the other side of Jefferson but on the right side of good times. Both Friday and Saturday night DJ KC is hosting a best beach outfit contest.

The staff have spent the week encouraging guests to show up wearing what they think is their best ensemble to be '"seen" in to win just beachy, beach-orientated prizes.

"Beach umbrellas, chairs, flip flops, towels -- really cool and unique gear is up for grabs both nights," states manager Gizelle Jeha.

They'll also have $4 you-call-its on special and no cover for their brand of fun.

will have a reggae band on Friday at 5 p.m. outside and inside The Dave Huff Trust will be keeping the crowd rockin' inside starting at 10pm. As always, there's no cover.
