Motorist Strikes City Worker, Pegasus Taverna

St. Clair Shores Police are investigating an accident at 10 Mile and Jefferson that injured two people, including a city worker and the driver of the vehicle that struck the employee and Pegasus Taverna.

Two people were hospitalized Wednesday after a van driving southbound on Jefferson struck a city worker, drove over a flower box and then struck the wall of Pegasus Taverna.

The van, driven by a woman in her 50s, was driving southbound on Jefferson and sideswiped a vehicle in the left lane and knocked off a side mirror. The van then ran a red light at 10 Mile and continued through the intersection.

She then reportedly struck a city employee working on decorative lights on the sidewalk. According to police officer Paul Opper, she then drove over the flower box and struck the side of Pegasus Taverna.

Opper said both the city employee and the driver were hospitalized. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
