As officers investigated the reported break-in, other officers became involved in a high-speed chase reaching 60 mph through neighborhoods north of 9 Mile Road with a vehicle driven by a person believed to be involved in the robbery.

Officers began following the car westbound on 9 Mile from Jefferson, and in the course of the chase, the right passenger tire came off. The chase continued through an alley at 9 Mile and Harper before it came to a stop at Elaine and Harper after the car's engine blew.
