Nov. 12 Trial Date Set for Bob Bashara

In a brief hearing early Thursday, attorneys and the judge handling Bob Bashara's solicitation of murder case set a November trial date and discussed procedural issues.

Bob Bashara, wearing a suit in Third Circuit Court early Thursday, continually wrote during his brief hearing--to the point the judge asked what he was doing. Bashara paused momentarily and answered the judge, saying he was making some notes for himself. That was essentially the only time he spoke, addressed the judge or looked at the judge. $15M Cash-Only Bond Set for Bob Bashara

Bob Bashara appeared in 36th District Court via video-conference Wednesday for his arraignment for soliciting someone to kill Joe Gentz. He will appear in court again July 24.

Jane Bashara, who was strangled to death in January, would have turned 57 Friday. Lindsey argued for a $25 million cash-only bond before Magistrate Charles W. Anderson III, providing a litany of information about the case, including that Rachel Gillett and another unnamed witness may have also been …

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy announced Wednesday that Bob Bashara will be arraigned in 36th District Court at 1 p.m. today on a single count of solicitation to murder Joe Gentz before Gentz's next competency hearing. Grosse Pointe Park police arrested Bashara Monday outside one of his properties on Mack Avenue in the Park and he has remained in the Wayne County Jail since. Worthy said during the investigation of Jane Bashara's homicide, investigators came to learn that Bashara wanted to have Gentz killed in the Wayne County Jail. He discussed as much with a person whom Worthy declined to identify but said was not a law enforcement official. Additionally, Bashara "made at least one payment" in exchange for the murder of Gentz, Worthy …

In today's hearing it was stated that Bob approached Steve the appliance store owner last Fall or Summer about having one of his tenants "taken care of". Later, in February, he is back pounding on the back door of Steve's Appliance store; reportedly trying to have Joe Gentz " taken care of". My question is: Why would Bashara expect that Steve could make such arrangements? Is Steve like the Don …   more ›
