Wolverines Win on the Field; Spartans Win on Patch

Saturday's Michigan vs. Michigan State game was close in both scoring and online reader support.

Saturday's game at the Big House came down to the wire, with Michigan beating Michigan State 12-10. The rivalry was nearly as close online in a Patch.com reader poll. Readers were asked to show off their Michigan or Michigan State pride by uploading photos of their favorite team. When the photos were counted at midnight Sunday, the Spartans squeaked by with a 35-30 victory over the Wolverines. Several photos featured memorabilia from both teams, which resulted in each team being awarded a point. If you missed the photo gallery, there's still time to check it out. And while the photos have already been tallied, you can still add your shots from your favorite team by clicking on the upload link.

Alabama-Michigan, 12 Years Later: Ron Bellamy Looks Back

Now a high school football coach, Ron Bellamy had just turned 18 when he played in the 2000 Orange Bowl.

For West Bloomfield High School football coach Ron Bellamy, Michigan's first game "back in the spotlight" against Alabama Saturday comes with memories attached to it. Bellamy, a Michigan graduate and a five-year National Football League veteran, was a member of one of only three Wolverines teams to face Alabama, although both programs are among college football's oldest and most storied. On Jan. 1, 2000, Bellamy had just turned 18 at the end of his freshman season when he started for Michigan in the FedEx Orange Bowl at Miami. Michigan won, 35-34, in overtime, and the two teams haven't played each other since then. Q: You were only a true freshman that season. Was that your first trip to Miami? Do you have any souvenirs? A: We had a blast…

"I don’t want to be in a country where we only are looking at success for a small group of people. We want a country where everybody has a chance," Obama said.
