St. Clair Shores police arrested a 44-year-old Romulus man April 3 on several charges after a report of a hit-and-run accident near Little Mack and 11 Mile Road. Officers were called about 10 p.m. for a hit and run accident in which the car drove away, according to a police report. Police said responding officers found the described getaway car in a driveway of the 28000 block of Little Mack with the driver's door ajar. The resident identified the driver as her ex-boyfriend. She told police he stopped and then ran from the car. She provided police a description, and he was found trying to hide behind an air conditioner. Two burglaries have been reported in St. Clair Shores in which small valuables were stolen. Both happened on the same night and there are some similarities to the rash of burglaries plaguing Grosse Pointe Shores and Woods since January.
St. Clair Shores police are investigating two burglaries in which small valuables, such as jewelry, laptop computers or other small electronics were taken. At least one of the burglaries is similar in nature to a rash of burglaries happening Grosse Pointe Shores and Woods. In the St. Clair Shores burglaries, two homes were broken into overnight from March 29 to 30, which was a Friday to a Saturday. In the first case, a resident in the 23800 block of Deziel Street reported returning home about 2 a.m. to find his kitchen window and screen open. He discovered that his house had been searched. He discovered several items missing including jewelry, a small cigar box as well as another small box containing social security cards, a birth …

St. Clair Shores police are investigating a domestic battery after emergency room staff called to report an injury to a 49-year-old man. Responding officers discovered the man had a 3- to 4-inch deep gash to his cheek, which was being tended to by emergency room staff. The man reported that he and his wife had gotten into a fight March 28, both had thrown several items to the bedroom floor, including a porcelain pot that broke into many pieces, according to St. Clair Shores police. He told police the wife grabbed a piece of the pot and cut him. He drove himself to the hospital for treatment. St. Clair Shores Police are hoping diners at Wong's Garden may be able to provide additional information about a man who robbed the restaurant March 29 and are asking them to call detectives at 586-445-5305.
St. Clair Shores police are investigating the robbery of Wong's Garden restaurant in which a man stole $3 of change from a jar near the register after an employee refused to give him money despite him brandishing a gun. Employees were not the only people present during the crime, although the robber was "low-key" in his method and may not have drawn attention to himself as a result, Detective Sgt. Jay Cohoe said. The St. Clair Shores Police has a drug return box located in the lobby of the police department for residents to dispose of unwanted medication.
Residents who want to safely dispose of unused, expired and unwanted, medications can now bring the items to the St. Clair Shores Police Department for safe disposal. According to Kevin Kimm, St. Clair Shores Police community resource officer, residents can bring the medications to a return box in the police station lobby 24 hours a day. The only medications accepted are pills, which need to be removed from the containers, and placed in clear baggies with "medications for disposal" written on the outside. Residents can pull a handle on the bin, and place the items into bin anonymously. The medications will be properly disposed. St. Clair Shores police officers were on patrol March 26 when they were flagged down by a resident who said two of his cell phones were stolen while he was in the Tubby's on Harper. The man said he saw the suspect, who was later identified as a 29-year-old Detroit resident, outside of the sub shop. When the man exited, he found two of his cell phones missing from his car. When he located the man, he asked if he had taken the phones and then the man started running. Officers saw the suspect run behind a business at Chalon and Harper as he tried to hide behind a dumpster. He then continued to flee before he was arrested on Brys. St. Clair Shores Police were called March 20 to a home in the 19900 block of Gaukler for a report of a theft of money and jewelry. Officers spoke with the daughter of an 89-year-old resident who said a man and woman came into her house claiming to be her niece and nephew. The homeowner said the female called her auntie, and because she did not have her glasses on at the time, she let her in. The woman reportedly then asked the homeowner how she was feeling, and said a prayer with her. She then asked if the homeowner could break a $100 bill. They walked to her bedroom where the homeowner kept a small safe. While in the bedroom, an unknown male walked into the house and into the bedroom. The resident thought it was her nephew. Two men who wanted in a string of break-ins in Ohio, and arrested Thursday in Macomb County, are awaiting extradition. One of the suspects who led police on a chase has been arraigned.
One of the suspects wanted in a string robberies in Ohio, who fled to Macomb County, was arraigned Friday on car theft and fleeing from police charges. Robert Hamman was one of two men who were wanted in Ohio for a string of home invasions and were located Thursday in Macomb County. As officers searched for the men, a pick-up was reported stolen from Labelle Electric Company in Macomb Township. Using a GPS tracking system, parking lot video security system and traffic cameras, officers were able to locate the Dodge Ram pickup truck on westbound I-94 driven by Robert Hamman. Macomb County Sheriff's deputies and the St. Clair Shores police stopped the vehicle near 9 Mile. Hamman, 43, of Willard, Ohio, was arrested and charged with a unlawful…

St. Clair Shores police assisted the Macomb Sheriff’s Office in arresting one of two men who were involved in home invasions in Ohio and was found in Michigan. Investigators in Macomb recently received a call from authorities in Huron County, Ohio, who were investigating "a rash" of home invasions, according to a release from the Sheriff's Office. Detectives in Ohio were able to develop information that the suspects were now in the Mount Clemens area. Working with detectives from Ohio, Macomb County officials located the suspects' vehicle Thursday in the parking lot of the Victory Inn in Mount Clemens, but the men had fled the hotel before the arrival of law enforcement personnel. Shane Spatafore, who stabbed his friend in September, will have the opportunity to pursue a college degree after a Macomb Circuit Court Judge placed him on three year probation.
A St. Clair Shores teenager who pleaded guilty to a charge of assault with intent to do great bodily harm for the stabbing of his best friend was placed on three year probation Wednesday by Macomb Circuit Court Judge Mary Chrzanowski. A grateful Shane Spatafore shook his lawyer's hand and looked to the ceiling after he received the sentence, which allows him to complete his high school degree and pursue a college education. The charges stemmed from the Sept. 3 incident where Spatafore got into an argument and stabbed his 17-year-old friend four times with a steak knife.
