High speed chase St. Clair Shores police officers responded Dec. 17 to a call from a 72-year-old resident in the 21900 block of Grand Lake for a report of a purse that was stolen by someone entering through a window. As officers investigated the reported break-in, other officers became involved in a high-speed chase reaching 60 mph through neighborhoods north of 9 Mile Road with a vehicle driven by a person believed to be involved in the robbery. Officers began following the car westbound on 9 Mile from Jefferson, and in the course of the chase, the right passenger tire came off. Volunteers joined members of the St. Clair Shores Police Department Friday to shop for toys and other items for the annual Cops for Kids for care package distribution.
A year of hard work culminates this weekend for members of St. Clair Shores Cops for Kids. After raising funds from events such as the Red Wings-Lakeview alumni hockeya dinner cruise on Ovation and Chili Wars, along with donations from individuals and businesses - including Dan Hauser of Superior Car Wash who donated $1,804 from car washes this past month - officers were joined by volunteers Friday at Kmart to shop for toys and other items for families in need in St. Clair Shores. The purchases were then taken to Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, where volunteers were to gather, wrap and distribute the care packages Saturday for 74 families and 205 children in need in St. Clair Shores. A 45-year-old Clinton Township man pleaded guilty to disorderly person in 40th District Court following an Oct. 9 arrest while wearing woman’s black knee-high tights and a women's halter top after he allegedly exposed himself to drivers on Little Mack Avenue in St. Clair Shores. St. Clair Shores Police were called after Joseph Alfonsi allegedly was exposing himself near Little Mack and Meijer about 8:20 a.m. Oct. 9. Officers were able to locate the vehicle and Alfonsi at a party store at Little Mack and Martin. According to reports, he had no shirt on and was wearing woman's knee high tights. Car break-in suspects arrested Two St. Clair Shores men are charged with larceny from an vehicle for allegedly taking items from vehicles Aug. 3 in the area of Rio Vista and Jefferson. Steven Altadonna, 17, and James Head, 19, were arrested after police were called about two males going through cars. Police stopped the males and discovered a cell phone charger allegedly stolen from a vehicle. They are free on $10,000, or 10 percent, bond. The St. Clair Shores Optimist Club will honor members of the St. Clair Shores Police Department June 5 during the first hold the first Call to Courage Police Appreciation and Awards Breakfast at Blossom Heath Inn. Members of the club met with police officials to plan the breakfast and recognition for officers. officers for Meritorious Service Awards, Life Saving Awards and Letters of Commendation. St. Clair Shores police are seeking witnesses to two traffic-related incidents in recent weeks.
Investigators from the traffic bureau of the St. Clair Shores Police Department are seeking witnesses to two recent incidents. Fatal accident Lt. Steve Lambert said investigators are seeking a witness to a fatal accident about 3 p.m. Good Friday, April 6, at the intersection of Stephens and Little Mack. A passenger in one of the vehicles died as a possible result of the crash, and one of the witnesses may have left the scene before police arrived. Police located a shotgun believed to have been used in a robbery Monday night.
Police have located a shotgun that was allegedly used in a robbery at Centennial and Harper Monday night. St. Clair Shores police released a statement Tuesday afternoon that they had located the shotgun which was left behind by a fleeing suspect whom police had arrested after a robbery. The suspect is in custody and may be arraigned Wednesday. Police had been checking homes around Harper and Interstate 94 between Centennial and Wood on Tuesday morning for the shotgun.

More than 500 Macomb County residents took part in the Drug Enforcement Administration's fourth National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day on April 28, and as a result, 1,307 pounds of unused and expired prescription medications were collected for safe disposal. According to the DEA, designated drop-off sites within in the county collected approximately two-thirds of a ton of medications, making Macomb one of the highest collection counties in Michigan. The St. Clair Shores Police Department was one of collection points in Macomb County. Nationally, Americans turned in 276 tons of unwanted or expired medications on April 28, at 5,659 sites around the country.
