Registration Now Open For Spring Sports in St. Clair Shores
Registration for baseball, soccer and figure skating are among the sports now accepting registration for spring sports.
Registration is now open for sport leagues for adults and children, summer camps and boating safety classes. Adult softball leagues St. Clair Shores Parks and Recreation is now accepting applications for men's, women's and coed softball teams. St. Clair Shores Parks and Recreation Youth Basketball Registration Open
Registration is now open for boys and girls in third through eighth grade for the upcoming St. Clair Shores Parks and Recreation youth basketball season.
Boys and girls in third through eighth grades can now register for the upcoming St. Clair Shores Parks and Recreation youth basketball season. All games are played at local schools in St. Clair Shores. The fee is $60 and includes a team shirt and photo. The deadline to register for freshmen and junior varsity teams are Nov. 25. Tonight's Movie in the Park: "The Smurfs"
Residents don't have to spend the night in Veterans Memorial Park to enjoy the movie.
St. Clair Shores Parks and Recreation will be holding the annual Movie Campout tonight in Veterans Memorial Park. If camping is not your favorite activity, residents can attend just the outdoor showing of the movie "The Smurfs." Entry fee is $3 per person, with the movie starting at about 9 p.m.

St. Clair Shores Civic Arena Festival Returns
The first major carnival of the year starts Thursday, and runs through Sunday, at Civic Arena.
The Civic Arena Festival returns this weekend with carnival rides for adults and children, midway games, food and free parking. Proceeds from the festival benefits the Sports Group Carnival Fund, which supports Parks and Recreation Programs and Activities. Carnival hours are: A coupon for $3 off the unlimited ride bracelets for Thurday and Friday is available at Civic Arena, online or on Patch. The coupon price is $15.

Contest: Get Coney For Kids Tickets From Patch
Patch is offering four tickets to the Coney for Kids dinner at the Senior Center of the Shores. The event is one of the biggest fundraisers of the year for the St. Clair Shores Parks and Recreation's Special Needs Children's Playground Program.
Every summer for the past 15 years the St. Clair Shores Parks and Recreation Department has held a summer program playground program for children with special needs. Participants take field trips, go swimming and take part in arts, crafts and sports activities during the camp. But before the camp starts, the community comes together for a Coney dog dinner fundraiser catered by National Coney Island in the Senior Center for the Shores. The popular coney chain, which has three locations in St. Clair Shores, brings in a mobile catering stand and makes each dog to order—with or without chili, mustard, extra onions or with everything! Shores Looks to Benefit From Winter Classic
When the eyes of the hockey world turn to Comerica Park and Michigan Stadium, St. Clair Shores officials expect to see increased interest in local hockey programs.
Parks and Recreation officials in St. Clair Shores are looking forward to the heightened profile hockey will receive when the Detroit Red Wings take the ice on Jan. 1, 2013, for the NHL's Winter Classic. The sport is extremely popular in the city with hundreds of children participating in the St. Clair Shores Hockey Association, adult leagues at Civic Arena and when the weather allows, pickup games on local canals. Interest in hockey and figure skating programs increase in Olympic years and when there are local big events such as the Winter Classic, officials said. Ex-Red Wings to Attend Pond Hockey Tournament
Retired Red Wing Kirk Maltby will be the grand marshal of the inaugural Nautical Mile Pond Hockey Winter Classic in St. Clair Shores. Other Red Wings including Shawn Burr may take part in an autograph session during the January event.
Some well-known professional hockey players will be participating in a new event for weekend hockey players. Organizers of the inaugural Nautical Mile Pond Hockey Winter Classic recently announced that former Detroit Red Wings player and member of the Grind Line, Kirk Maltby, will be the grand marshal for the event Jan. 20 -22.
