Veterans Memorial Park was home Friday to many picnics, barbecues and family fun leading up to the St. Clair Shores-First State Bank Fireworks. Share your photos from the event, and celebrations throughout the city, on Patch!
The annual celebration of St. Clair Shores and Independence Day brought together residents, their families and friends Friday for festivities in Veterans Memorial Park and surrounding neighborhoods. The St. Clair Shores-First State Bank Fireworks Extravaganza featured a wide array of activities in the park and gatherings in homes along the waterfront neighborhoods around the Masonic and Jefferson area. The annual St. Clair Shores-First State Bank Fireworks will be set to music for the first time this year. What songs would be on your playlist?
When the St. Clair Shores-First State Fireworks dance across the sky Friday night, the pyrothechnic show will be set to music that will be played throughout Veterans Memorial Park and simulcast on 87.9 FM. The radio simulcast signal should be able to be picked up within a mile of the park. Patch wants to know what songs you would like to hear played during the nearly 30-minute show. Share your playlist in the comment section below. If you are going to see the show in person, admission will be $2 person. Entry wristbands are currently available in advance at the Parks and Recreation Department. Show-goers will also have the opportunity to pay at the gate, and purchase $5 parking passes for the lot on Jefferson and Masonic. The fireworks …

The St. Clair Shores Activities Committee is raising funds to offset the costs of the annual fireworks show on June 24.
Members of the St. Clair Shores Activities Committee are collecting donations and selling wristbands for the city's annual fireworks display. The annual event, which draws thousands of people to Veterans Memorial Park and many more to neighborhoods around Masonic and Jefferson, costs about $50,000 for the actual fireworks, police protection and other city services. To help offset those costs, the city is charging $2 admission for the fireworks and a $5 parking fee for those who park in the lot across Jefferson. Prior to the event, members of the activities committee will sell the entry wristbands and collect donations throughout the city, including today at Village Market.
