Obituary: Developer Ted Gatzaros Dies at 68
Grosse Pointe Park resident Ted Gatzaros, a founder of Greektown Casino who also owns the Shore Club Apartments in St. Clair Shores, died Thursday.
Ted Gatzaros, a Grosse Pointe Park resident who developed and owned businesses in Detroit and St. Clair Shores, died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013. Gatzaros, 68, a Greek immigrant, brought casinos to Detroit and helped restore historic buildings which brought new businesses to the city and region. Gatzaros and his wife, Maria, renovated and developed many properties in Detroit, including Trappers Alley and Pegasus Taverna in Greektown, the original Fishbone's Rhythm Kitchen Cafe, along with the Atheneum Suites Hotel, according to his company's website, 400 Monroe Associates.
