The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has awarded Lake St. Clair Metropark a $500,000 Great Lakes Restoration Initiative Grant to improve water quality.
The Huron-Clinton Metropark Authority received a new $500,000 Great Lakes Restoration Initiative grant Tuesday to reduce the impact of storm water runoff at Lake St. Clair Metropark. This is the second consecutive year the Environmental Protection Agency has awarded a grant to help improve the water quality of Lake St. Clair. “This important grant will continue a project begun last year to reduce, capture and redirect polluted storm water runoff away from the Black Creek and Lake St. Clair,” said Rep. U.S. Rep. Sander Levin addressed an audience of constituents, business leaders and elected officials Wednesday in Macomb Township.
Congressman Sander Levin, D-Royal Oak, addressed a gathering of Macomb County business and community leaders Wednesday on issues in Washington and to share his thoughts on the presidential election. U.S. Rep. Sander Levin, D-Royal Oak, adopted Harper from 15 Mile to Metropolitan Parkway as part of County Executive Mark Hackel's efforts to reinvigorate the Adopt-A-Road program. Levin and a team of volunteers cleaned the roadway Thursday morning.

Lakeview junior wins First Place in Congressional Art Competition
Whiz kid’s name: Alecia Hansen Whiz kid’s age: 17. She is a junior at Lakeview High School. Whiz kid’s accomplishment: Alecia won first place in the 29th Annual Congressional Art Competition. She won for the 12th Congressional District, which is represented by U.S. Rep. Sander Levin. Alecia’s artwork, a water-color painting titled “Violet Landscape,” is being displayed for one year in the Cannon Corridor of the Capitol Building in Washington, D.C., along with winning pieces from other congressional districts. Whiz kid’s key to awesomeness: “Alecia is incredibly talented. She puts forth a great deal of effort and thought into her art.
