Humane Society Tips for Pet Safety in Hot Weather

Even a few minutes in a car can put your dog or cat at risk for heat stroke or death.

The Michigan Humane Society is offering tips for keeping dogs and cats safe during streaks of hot weather.

Viewfinder: Mutt March

2011 Mutt March brings together hundreds of pooches and raises thousands of dollars for Michigan Humane Society.

The 2011 Michigan Humane Society Mutt March took over the Edsel & Eleanor Ford House Sunday morning as hundreds of dogs and their owners gathered to walk and raise money for the organization. The event, the 23rd annual, is a favorite among animal lovers and attracts pooches and their people from all over the area.

Dapper Dogs and Charismatic Cats Wanted

Entering your pet in the Michigan Humane Society photo contest gives your critter a chance to be 'Pet of the Year' and raises money for a great cause.

Do you think you have an especially photogenic pet? The Michigan Humane Society is inviting you to prove it. What does it get you? Bragging rights and the satisfaction of helping a good cause, for starters. The Michigan Humane Society is holding its second MHS Pet Photo Contest that gives your pet a shot at becoming “Pet of the Year.” The contest, sponsored by US-Mattress.com, runs through Feb. 28. “This is a great way for proud pet owners to show off their best photos and help change the lives of animals in need,” said Mike Robbins, vice president of marketing and communications for MHS. “Last year, this contest helped raise enough funds to transform the lives of nearly 150 animals.” It costs the MHS approximately $156 to help an animal …
