Police identified the motorist in Tuesday's fatal crash on Interstate 94 as a 49-year-old Mount Clemens man. William Weaver was transported to McLaren Macomb Hospital in Mount Clemens after the accident, where he was pronounced dead from his injuries, according to the Macomb County Sheriff's Office. Deputies said the crash that took place around 2:16 p.m. when Weaver merged from Metro Parkway onto the freeway, crossing over all three lanes. His 1987 Chrysler New Yorker struck another vehicle before hitting the center median barrier before another vehicle crashed into it. He was not wearing a seat belt, the Sheriff's Office said. A multi-vehicle crash that prompted the closure of eastbound Interstate 94 at Metro Parkway Tuesday afternoon claimed the life of one motorist, according to the Macomb County Sheriff's Office. Deputies are investigating the accident that took place around 2:16 p.m. Preliminary reports lead them to believe the crash took place after a male driver merged from Metro Parkway onto the freeway, crossing over all three lanes. The driver's vehicle struck another vehicle before hitting the center median barrier before another vehicle crashed into it, deputies said. Motorists were directed off the freeway onto Metro Parkway as emergency responders arrived to the personal injury accident, deputies said. No further details were immediately available.

An 18-year-old Clinton Township man faces two 15-year felonies from the June 22 crash that claimed his 21-year-old passenger's life in Harrison Township.
An 18-year-old Clinton Township man was arraigned Monday on two felony charges stemming from a fatal accident that claimed his passenger's life. Gavin Enright was charged in 41B District Court with first-degree fleeing and eluding and operating while intoxicated causing death. Each charge carries a maximum penalty of 15 years imprisonment upon conviction. Enright was held in lieu of a $150,000 bond, according to the Macomb County Sheriff's Office. In the early Friday morning hours, police say Enright's father contacted the Sheriff's Office to report his son was driving a 1999 GMC Yukon without a license.
