The Huskies girls tennis team Monday defeated East Detroit.
The Lakeview High School girls tennis team defeated East Detroit 8-0 Monday at a match at Jefferson Middle School Lakeview seniors Joelle Kruczek and Leah Willoughby won their singles matches 6-0, 6-0. The Huskies doubles team of Kathleen Trombley, a senior, and Rachel Stacheit, a junior, also blanked their opponents 6-0, 6-0.

Lakeview High School students returned to their roots Monday to read to elementary school students as part of
Lakeview High School student athletes put on their jerseys Monday and visited elementary schools in district as part of March is Reading Month. High school teacher Matthew Barranca came up with the idea to have the athletes read to students in the four elementary schools. He worked with elementary school reading specialist Catherine Rustoni and Ann Marie Maccani to schedule the visit of the 40 athletes to the schools. Barranca said it was his goal to inspire the younger students and show them that reading is "cool."

Lakeview's boy basketball team defeated Madison Heights Lamphere Thursday night to clinch the Macomb Area Conference Silver Division championship.
The Lakeview Huskies boys basketball team won its first league championship in nearly 30 years Thursday by defeating Madison Heights Lamphere 78-60. The Huskies finished the season 12-2, 17-3, according to a story on www.miprepzone.com. “We definitely knew this was the most important game of the year, so we just practiced really hard,” said Lakeview center Gary Tilney, who scored 19 points, had 12 rebounds and blocked 8 shots, according to the report. “We also know we couldn’t take any opponent for granted,” Tilney added. “Discipline and our defense gave us the edge.”

Students need their identification, and parent or legal guardian, to attend tonight's game due to security requirements at Harper Woods High School.
Lakeview High School students planning to attend tonight's boys basketball game at Harper Woods High School need to bring a Lakeview High School identification and be escorted by a parent or legal guardian, according to the district. The security measures were put in place by the Harper Woods School District to curtail violence during and after basketball games, according to a report by the Macomb Daily. According to the report, the policy was implemented after gang incidents involving students and former students from nearby Detroit high schools. There are no reports of trouble from Lakeview students, the report added.

A record amount of funds were raised at the charity game between Lakeview High School alumni and Detroit Red Wings Alumni at St. Clair Shores Civic Arena. Highlights from the game are now featured on the hockey team's website.
The Detroit Red Wings posted a video on the team's website from the charity game between Lakeview High School alumni and Detroit Red Wings Alumni at St. Clair Shores Civic Arena. Ken Kal, a St. Clair Shores resident and Detroit Red Wings announcer, hosts the video. The charity hockey game between Lakeview High School alumni and the Detroit Red Wings Alumni raised $20,894 and netted $14,800 for the St. Clair Shores Police Department's Cops for Kids Program.

Lakeview Tennis The Lakeview girls tennis team defeated Clawson 7-1 Wednesday. Jessica Mallet led Lakeview with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Halley Ammons in singles. Other singles winners for Lakeview were Leah Willoughby and Shelby Bricker. Lakeview also won all four double flights with wins by Micha Thompson and Mackenzie Desandre; Emily Mahoney and Eva Smith; Leah Golembiewski and Hannah Sporer; and Kristen Coyro and Kathleen Trombley. The Huskies boys golf team defeated Marysville Tuesday.
The Lakeview High School boys golf team topped Marysville Tuesday at the Marysville Golf Course. The boys scores were Danny Schwarzwalder 39, Joe Sedrowski 41, Alex Rovda 43, Tom Garbe 44, and Jeff Jaszczak 44. For there team Dan Bond 42, Trevor Spencer 43, Mitch Armbruster 43, Dalton Kraklan 46. The total was Lakeview 167 and Marysville 174. The course is par 36 for nine.

Lakeview High School boys varsity bowling team advances to state championships Friday after winning the regional championship.
Lakeview High School's boys varsity bowling team came in first place Friday at the MHSAA State Regional Bowling Tournament (Division 1, Region 6) at Skore Lanes in Taylor With a combined total score of 3,991, the boys edged Roseville for the championship and advanced to the state finals next Friday in Battle Creek. "While there wasn’t one person who took bowled outstanding all day, it was a true team event with everybody contributing to the victory from the start with six baker games through the final three games of five-man competition," according to Dan Dombrowski, who submitted the box score. This was first year Lakeview participated in Division 1 competition with the larger schools that are part of Region 6 due to the size of the school
