Football players at the three high schools in St. Clair Shores will take the field tonight for the final regular season game of the year.
After a summer of practices, after school planning sessions and hours in the weight room, football players at Lake Shore, Lakeview and South Lake will take the field tonight for the final football game of the year. Lakeview's final game of the year will be at Grosse Pointe South. Lake Shore wraps up the season at home against L'Anse Creuse. South Lake suit up for the regular season finale at home against Clintondale. Sunday the Cavaliers learn who they will meet in the MHSAA football playoffs. All three games kick off at 7 p.m.

The Huskies football topped cross-town football rivals Lake Shore Shorians 32-22 Friday night.
Lakeview defeated cross-town rivals Lake Shore 32-22 Friday night in the final football city rivalry game of the season, according to mhsaa.com. The win improves the Huskies to 1-7 on the season. Lake Shore falls to 2-6 this year. Lakeview's final game of the year will be Oct. 19 at Grosse Pointe South. Lake Shore wraps up the season at home against L'Anse Creuse.

The Shorians got their first win of the season Friday with a victory over Center Line.
Lake Shore's football team won their first game of the season with a 49-20 victory Friday over Center Line. The win improves the Shorians record to 1-3 this season. Lake Shore's next game will be Sept. 21 against Warren Fitzgerald at home.

Organizers of the tailgate before the first game of the football season between South Lake and Lake Shore announced Best Buy will bring televisions and game systems to the festivities.
Before the real football players take the field Aug. 23 at Lake Shore High School for the kickoff of the 2012 season, a number of virtual games will be played. Organizers of the tailgate before the game between city rivals South Lake and Lake Shore recently announced that Best Buy will bring two large plasma televisions with games systems. One will have a college video game, and the other will have an NFL game, according to Craig Manning, president of the Lake Shore Quarterback Club. The game systems will be in large tents near the field. Plans are also in the works to have a traveling video board from New Life Media that will be featuring videos of the football team. Often when budgets are tight, people have a tendency to dismiss the value of an athletic team. How can playing a sport prepare a student for life? Allow me to address this question based on my experience this past week. My husband and I, Ed Siecinski, became involved with the Lake Shore Quarterback Club during the past football season. Wanting to support our son Nicholas Vario and his teammates, we participated in the Taste Fest, working directly with the players. This group of young men rose to the occasion. No grumbling.
