Lake Shore Lineman Signs to Play at Northwood University on National Signing Day

Lake Shore senior James Bush signed a letter of intent to play at Northwood University.

Lake Shore High School senior James Bush signed a letter of intent Wednesday to play football at Northwood University on National Signing Day. Bush, 18, was a three-year varsity started on the Shorians football team where he played as an offensive and defensive lineman. "He is really a devastating hitter," said Lake Shore football Coach Tom Iwanicki. He added that Bush is the first player from one of his teams to play NCAA Division II football. "I am excited. I can't wait to get started," said Bush, who is planning on majoring in entertainment and sports promotion management. Sports Brief: Lake Shore Football Falls to Sterling Heights

The Shorians fell to Sterling Heights Friday.

Lake Shore's football team lost 51-26 Friday in a road game at Sterling Heights, according to mhsaa.com. With the loss, the Shorians fell to 2-4 this season. Lake Shore returns home for their next game Oct. 5, for the homecoming game against St. Clair.

Sports Brief: Lake Shore Football Tops Fitzgerald

The Shorians got their second win of the season Friday with a victory over Warren Fitzgerald.

Lake Shore's football team has won back-to-back games with a 26-25 victory Friday over Warren Fitzgerald. With the win, the Shorians improve to 2-3 this season. Lake Shore hits the road for their next game Sept. 28 against Sterling Heights.

High School Football Teams Take the Field for Week 3 of the 2012 Season

South Lake will be the only local high school playing a home game this weekend. Local football fans will be able to see University of Michigan recruit Shane Morris play Saturday at Lake Shore.

High profile football action returns to St. Clair Shores this weekend as undefeated South Lake plays their first home game, and University of Michigan recruit Shane Morris takes the field at Lake Shore High School. Undefeated South Lake plays tonight at home against Fitzgerald in their home opener. Quarterback Shane Morris, who has committed to play his college football at the University of Michigan, will lead De La Salle against Fordson Saturday at Lake Shore High School. This is the second year the Pilots have rented Lake Shore's facilities to play their home games. Friday South Lake, 2-0, takes on Fitzgerald 1-1, at 7 p.m. in South Lake's home opener. High School Football Teams Hit the Field for Week 2 of the 2012 Season

Lake Shore, Lakeview and South Lake take to the gridiron this week for the second week of the 2012 football season.

All three high school football teams in St. Clair Shores return to action this week, and each team will be on the road for the final game before the Labor Day holiday. Both Lake Shore and Lakeview will be seeking their first win of the season. South Lake, with a 45-6 win over Lake Shore last week, looks to stay perfect. South Lake Defeats Lake Shore in Football Season Opener

South Lake combined a strong air and ground attack for a 45-6 win over cross-town rivals Lake Shore in the opening game of 2012 football season.

The South Lake Cavaliers took to the field Thursday with a new coach but continued their old - and winning ways - with a 45-6 victory over the Lake Shore Shorians. The visiting Cavaliers jumped out to a 33-0 lead in the first half, led by three running touchdowns by senior Deshun Brown and a 32-yard quarterback sneak by senior Travon DeSaussure. "The kids came out and they just committed themselves to playing hard on every single play," said Chanterius Brock, who got a win in his first game as head coach of South Lake. "We are nowhere near where we want to be, but we are definitely excited about getting the first win." The second half started with a bit of trickery, with an on-side kick by Lake Shore that was recovered by the Shorians. …

This Week in St. Clair Shores: Aug. 20

St. Clair Shores City Council to meet, the last concert in the park is scheduled and the VFW Bruce Post will hold a Feather Party this week.

Here are the highlights of the many events scheduled in St. Clair Shores this week: 1. St. Clair Shores will meet at 7 p.m. tonight in City Hall. According to the agenda, council will consider: 2. Soccer players who played in the St. Clair Shores Waterfront Invitational should be warmed up and ready to participate in the Roy O'Brien Ford and St. Clair Shores Select Soccer Club's Ford Escape Soccer Skills Challenge at 5 p.m. Tuesday at Civic Center South soccer fields. 3.
