Lake Shore has the only contested board of education race on general election ballot. Three candidates are vying for two vacancies
Lake Shore Public Schools is the only district in the city this year with a contested race for seats on the board of education. On Nov. 6, voters will select two out of three candidates to fill six-year terms. The race includes incumbents Susan Jamieson and Kurt Ziegler. Lake Shore High School Junior Alex Wielbinski recently took the oath of office to be a student representative on the Lake Shore Board of Education.
The Lake Shore Board of Education welcomed a new member Monday as Alex Wielbinski took the oath of office as a student representative to the body. Wielbinski, a junior at Lake Shore High School, will serve on the board for a two-year term and will bring a student perspective to issues. He joins senior Joshua Denzler on the board. "We welcome you and thank you for volunteering your time," said Gerrit Ketelhut, Lake Shore Board of Education president.

South Lake Schools is the only district in the city this year with a contested race for seats on the board of education. On Nov. 8, voters will select two out of three candidates to fill four-year terms. The race includes incumbent Ellen Dunn and district residents Michael Damiani and Charlotte Rebelein.
