Student groups from Lakeview Public Schools, Scouts and members of the community gathered Saturday at Lakeview High School to assemble 20,000 meal packets for those in need.
Students groups from Lakeview Public Schools, and members of the community, gathered Saturday for a "Kids Against Hunger" event to assemble 20,000 meal packets for needy families in the Lakeview High School cafeteria. Students from across the district worked to raise the $5,600 for the meals. The students raised $3,000, and with the assistance of a school board member and Thrivent Financial, they were able to reach their goal, according to Patti Blashill, a parent organizer of the effort. For months, the groups including Huskies with Heart, Patriots with Pride, and Ardmore’s Kids Who Care, have been working are working to raise $5,6000 for the meals. Student groups from Lakeview Public Schools will be holding a pasta dinner fundraiser tonight to raise funds to assemble 20,000 meal packets for the needy.
Students groups from Lakeview Public Schools will host a "Kids Against Hunger" pasta dinner fundraiser from 6-8 p.m. tonight at the Lakeland Banquet Center. The groups, including Huskies with Heart, Patriots with Pride, and Ardmore’s Kids Who Care, are working to raise $5,6000 to assemble 20,000 meal packets for needy families. Tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for children. Following the dinner, members of the community are invited to join the Kids Against Hunger for a packaging event from noon-4 p.m. Saturday at the Lakeview High School Cafeteria. Teachers, students and staff throughout Lakeview Public Schools wore hats Friday to raise money for a food drive.
Teachers, students and staff in Lakeview Public Schools wore hats Friday for charity. The Lakeview High School club Huskies with Heart sponsored the event, which collected money from participants who wore hats and will use the proceeds to purchase food for those in need. More than 100 volunteers gather on Oct. 16 at Bethel Lutheran Church to prepare bags of food to be sent around the city, state and nation.
