The Wayne County high school band incurred $2,400 in transportation costs getting to and from Ford Field.
Fresh off their Thanksgiving Day performance alongside Kid Rock during the Detroit Lions' halftime show, members of the Wyandotte Marching Chiefs were pretty excited to receive a letter from the rock star on Thursday. But there was more than a congratulatory note inside. There was a check for $2,500 from the Macomb County native. With the halftime show being a surprise development and with the school district not having its own fleet of buses, the band incurred $2,400 in transportation costs getting to and from rehearsals, leading up to the big day. Romney supporters are treated to a musical performance by a guy who 'epitomizes Detroit and is an icon.'
When Michigan Atty. Gen. Bill Schuette asked, “Royal Oak do you want to rock?” and “Michigan do you want to roll?” on Monday night, he was serious. Moments later, after addressing more than 1,000 supporters at the Royal Oak Music Theatre, Mitt Romney described driving to the home of “a fellow that lives in this area.” “I asked him whether he might come here tonight. I think you know him pretty well,” Romney teased the crowd. “He’s a native son of Detroit. He loves Michigan and he loves Detroit.” The Republican presidential candidate’s campaign promised to deliver Gov. Rick Snyder and a "special musical guest from Detroit" on his “Earn It” bus tour to Royal Oak. When the burgundy stage curtains where finally drawn, local music hero Kid Rock…

Five things to get your day started in St. Clair Shores.
Here are a few items to help you get your day, and weekend, started. 1. Grab the umbrella as you head out today. The National Weather Service is forecasting a 70 percent chance of rain with a high near 62 with a north wind between 6 and 9 miles per hour. 2. The sky shouldn't be falling today. NASA's Upper Atmosphere Research Satellite is expected to re-enter the atmosphere this afternoon, but the satellite will not be passing over North America during that time period, according to NASA. 3. It's football night in the Shores. Lake Shore will be hosting Lakeview and South Lake will be hosting Mount Clemens. 4. Homemade apple pies, made by the caring hands of senior volunteers, are being sold for $10 at the St. Clair Shores Senior Center. …

I got on board the Kid Rock fanwagon several years ago. Not so much for the music he creates--some of which I really like, but because he is a caring resident of SE Michigan. Good man, he.   more ›
