Breeana Kay Dixit, 22, of St. Clair Shores, was struck and killed Sunday morning in Kalamazoo.
A 22-year-old St. Clair Shores resident was struck and killed early Sunday morning in Kalamazoo, according to Kalamazoo Police. Police were called about 12:42 a.m. Sunday for a report of a person struck by a vehicle at the intersection of W. Michigan Ave and Emajean Street. Officers located Breeana Kay Dixit in the roadway. She was pronounced dead on the scene. According to a report on MLive, Dixit graduated in December with a bachelor's degree in psychology from Western Michigan University. Police report the investigation is ongoing. Kaul Funeral Home is reportedly handling the services for Dixit.

St. Clair Shores Fire Department Lt. James A. Nichols, who served in the U.S. Army and was described as a "loyal" member of the fire department, died Dec. 15, 2012. Lt. Nichols, 45, was a registered nurse and a 16-year veteran of the St. Clair Shores Fire Department where he was a paramedic and a member of the Macomb County Technical Rescue Team. He was honored recently during the Optimist Club of St. Clair Shores Firefighter recognition breakfast for being one of five firefighters from St. Clair Shores who are part of this team. "We are a safer Macomb County because of these firefighters," said Chief George Morehouse during the ceremony. Lt.
