The left lane of westbound I-94 will close this weekend as part of the ongoing project between Masonic and I-696.
The I-94 resurfacing project in St. Clair Shores will move into a new phase of construction this weekend as crews will close the left lane of the westbound I-94 for drainage and median work. According to a release from the Michigan Department of Transportation, the left lane of westbound I-94 will close at 8 p.m. Friday for construction crews to install drainage upgrades and reconstruction of the median wall and shoulders. The left lane will be closed around-the-clock from Masonic Blvd to I-696 through early June. There are no additional ramp closures expected on westbound I-94, according to a release. Emergency responders were at the scene of the crash Tuesday afternoon in Harrison Township.
A multi-vehicle crash that prompted the closure of eastbound Interstate 94 at Metro Parkway Tuesday afternoon claimed the life of one motorist, according to the Macomb County Sheriff's Office. Deputies are investigating the accident that took place around 2:16 p.m. Preliminary reports lead them to believe the crash took place after a male driver merged from Metro Parkway onto the freeway, crossing over all three lanes. The driver's vehicle struck another vehicle before hitting the center median barrier before another vehicle crashed into it, deputies said. Motorists were directed off the freeway onto Metro Parkway as emergency responders arrived to the personal injury accident, deputies said. No further details were immediately available.

Crews are fixing a drainage structure in the left lane.
The Interstate 94 and Interstate 696 interchange has gone down to one lane as crews repair a faulty drainage structure, according to the Michigan Department of Transportation. The work in Macomb County means the left lane of the existing two-lane ramp from I-94 to westbound I-696 will be shut down for at least one week. Crews are fixing the drainage structure in the left lane. The right lane of the ramp is expected to remain open during the repair, MDOT said.

The Michigan Department of Transportation is planning to have one lane of traffic open on I-94 this weekend between I-696 and Masonic, which will be followed by a traffic shift starting Monday.
The $20 million I-94 resurfacing project in St. Clair Shores moves into a new phase this weekend as construction crews will reduce traffic to one lane in each direction between I-696 and Masonic Blvd. Saturday and Sunday. According to the Michigan Department of Transportation, the lane restrictions will run from 5 a.m. Saturday through 5 a.m. Monday, weather permitting. The Michigan Department of Transportation plans to conduct around $187 million worth of work in in 2013 on 80 miles of pavement and 15 bridges in the Metro Detroit area.
Enjoy the snow while it lasts, motorists. Once winter shifts into construction season,one of the highest traveled thoroughfares heading through St. Clair Shores will undergo resurfacing work. The Michigan Department of Transportation announced this week that it plans to award approximately $187 million in contracts during 2013 to improve 80 miles of pavement and repair 15 bridges in the MDOT Metro Region. Roughly $17 million of this total has been allocated to resurfacing 5 miles of I-94 between I-696 and Masonic. Also within St. Clair Shores, there will be major projects including a water main replacement and full reconstruction of 9 Mile from Harper to I-94, and concrete repair work on 13 Mile from the west city limits to Greater Mack. …

The Macomb County Prosecutors Office will not authorize charges in a fatal accident on I-94 in March where a construction worker was struck and killed.
No charges will be issued in the March fatal traffic crash on I-94 in St. Clair Shores that involved a 26-year-old construction worker. The Michigan State Police released a statement Wednesday that a warrant package was submitted to the Macomb Couny Prosecutors Office for the March 10, 2012, accident on eastbound I-94 at 12 Mile. Construction worker Justin Vallad, of Standish, was killed after he was struck by a vehicle in a work zone between Frazho and 12 Mile. He was part of a survey crew from Surveying Solutions Inc., which was contracted by the Michigan Department of Transportation. Michigan State Police Lt. Michael A. Shaw stated a review of the packet was conducted and no charges were authorized for this crash.
