Road Projects St. Clair Shores Motorists Should Avoid

The Michigan Department of Transportation has scheduled road work on I-94 and I-696, which could affect St. Clair Shores drivers.

The Michigan Department of Transportation announced the following construction projects starting Friday, and ending Monday, weather permitting. I-696: The eastbound I-696 ramp to eastbound I-94 in Macomb County will be closed from 5 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday for reconstruction on I-94. I-94: Eastbound and westbound I-94 in Macomb County will be reduced to a single lane between 11 Mile Road and Masonic from 5 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday for reconstruction on I-94. I-94: Eastbound I-94 in Wayne County from Cadieux Road to 8 Mile Road, westbound I-94 from Chalmers to French Road, and westbound I-94 from 8 Mile Road to Moross Road, will have single-lane closures from 9 p.m. until 9 a.m. on Friday and Saturday for …

MDOT: Work Taking Place at I-94, I-696 Interchange

Crews are fixing a drainage structure in the left lane.

The Interstate 94 and Interstate 696 interchange has gone down to one lane as crews repair a faulty drainage structure, according to the Michigan Department of Transportation. The work in Macomb County means the left lane of the existing two-lane ramp from I-94 to westbound I-696 will be shut down for at least one week. Crews are fixing the drainage structure in the left lane. The right lane of the ramp is expected to remain open during the repair, MDOT said.

Weekend Construction Road Projects Around Macomb County

If you are motoring around town today, be prepared for these road projects.

More orange barrels will clutter our major thoroughfares this weekend. Here's a look at the sections you may want to avoid. I-696 The two-lane ramp from eastbound I-696 to eastbound I-94 will be reduced to one lane from 5 a.m. Saturday until 5 a.m. Monday for I-94 shoulder work. I-94 Eastbound and westbound I-94 will be reduced to a one lane between 23 Mile and County Line roads from 9 p.m. Friday until 6 a.m. Monday for construction. The right lane of eastbound and westbound I-94 will be closed between Masonic and 12 Mile Road from 5 a.m. Saturday until 5 a.m. Monday for shoulder repairs. In addition, the ramps to and from both eastbound and westbound I-94 at 12 Mile Road will be closed.

Nightly Closure: Eastbound I-94 Drops to One Lane from 23 Mile to County Line

Construction will reduce eastbound I-94 to a single lane every night this week, May 7-11.

I-94 In Macomb County, eastbound I-94 will be reduced to a single lane nightly from 23 Mile Road to County Line Road starting at 7 p.m. and ending by 6 a.m. the following morning.  This nightly closure begins Monday, May 7, and ends Friday, May 11. All lanes will be open to traffic during daylight hours. I-696 Also in Macomb County, the right lane of westbound I-696 near Ryan Road will be closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, May 7, for sign work. This closure information was provided by the Michigan Department of Transportation.

The Michigan Department of Transportation is planning roadwork and lane restrictions throughout Macomb County this weekend.  I-94: The right lane of eastbound I-94 will be closed for maintenance from 11 Mile Road to 12 Mile Road from 5 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. During this same time, the eastbound I-94 ramp to 12 Mile Road will be closed. Weekend Road Work Impacts Drivers on I-94, I-696

Ongoing bridge work and lighting upgrades will bring lane closures to I-94 and I-696 this weekend.

Drivers along I-94 and I-696 will have construction this weekend. I-696 Ongoing bridge work will require a two-lane closure nightly from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. on eastbound and westbound I-696 between Van Dyke Ave. and Schoenherr Road. The right lane of eastbound I-696 will also be closed from Hoover to Bunert roads for ongoing construction from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday.
