Parades, decorations, acts of kindness and school celebrations are just some of the ways the holidays were celebrated in St. Clair Shores.
It's Christmas morning and across the city families are celebrating the day in a variety of way. But in the weeks leading up to the big day, residents, organizations, businesses and schools celebrated the season while spreading Christmas joy around the community. As you prepare for the holiday, try a few of these Christmas cookie recipes.
Here are a few of my favorite Christmas cookie recipes. Most of these are easy to make and kid friendly. Enjoy! Ingredients: Crush the cookies in a plastic bag with a rolling pin or in a food processor until the cookies are almost powder-like. Mix in the softened cream cheese and stir well. You can make as many different sizes as you want or have space for. Microwave the candy coating and be ready to apply right away, while it is still hot. Once it hardens, you won't be able to cover the cookies. Add your favorite sprinkles while candy coating is still soft. Set cookies on wax paper and place in freezer for 10-15 minutes, at least. The Harper Avenue Business Association, and Patch, announced the winners Monday of the annual Light the Shores holiday lighting poll during the St. Clair Shores City Council meeting.
The votes in the Light the Shores poll have been counted on the Patch website with care, and Monday night at City Council, the awards were there. After a week of nominations, and two weeks of voting by Patch readers, the Harper Avenue Business Association honored the best decorated businesses in St. Clair Shores as selected by voters.
