The three-vehicle crash shut down the freeway at Metro Parkway Tuesday afternoon.
Police identified the motorist in Tuesday's fatal crash on Interstate 94 as a 49-year-old Mount Clemens man. William Weaver was transported to McLaren Macomb Hospital in Mount Clemens after the accident, where he was pronounced dead from his injuries, according to the Macomb County Sheriff's Office. Deputies said the crash that took place around 2:16 p.m. when Weaver merged from Metro Parkway onto the freeway, crossing over all three lanes. His 1987 Chrysler New Yorker struck another vehicle before hitting the center median barrier before another vehicle crashed into it. He was not wearing a seat belt, the Sheriff's Office said. A Macomb Township man was taken to a local hospital for treatment of serious injuries, according to the Macomb County Sheriff's Office.
A 20-year-old Macomb Township pedestrian suffered serious injuries after he was struck Wednesday by a vehicle near the Interstate 94 overpass in Harrison Township, police said. At approximately 1:38 a.m., a 21-year-old Mount Clemens woman reported to the Macomb County Sheriff's Office that she struck someone lying on Metro Parkway near the freeway overpass, according to the Macomb County Sheriff's Office. The driver of the 2003 Chevrolet Blazer was traveling westbound on Metro Parkway when she noticed something in the roadway. An 18-year-old Clinton Township man faces two 15-year felonies from the June 22 crash that claimed his 21-year-old passenger's life in Harrison Township.
An 18-year-old Clinton Township man was arraigned Monday on two felony charges stemming from a fatal accident that claimed his passenger's life. Gavin Enright was charged in 41B District Court with first-degree fleeing and eluding and operating while intoxicated causing death. Each charge carries a maximum penalty of 15 years imprisonment upon conviction. Enright was held in lieu of a $150,000 bond, according to the Macomb County Sheriff's Office. In the early Friday morning hours, police say Enright's father contacted the Sheriff's Office to report his son was driving a 1999 GMC Yukon without a license. The Milford woman is accused of fleeing the scene after striking a teenage girl on her bike in the Jefferson and Crocker area in Harrison Township.
A Milford woman was arrested Friday for fleeing the scene after she allegedly struck a 17-year-old Harrison Township girl riding her bike, the Macomb County Sheriff's Office reported this weekend. Margaret Fronczak was charged with failing to stop at the scene of a serious injury accident. She was placed on a $50,000 cash bond, police stated in a news release. The charge stems from an accident at 10:54 p.m. June 16 at Jefferson and Crocker in Harrison Township. Witnesses reported a 2003-07 black Toyota Corolla veer off the road and strike the teen riding her bike south on the northbound shoulder. Metro Detroit leaders penned the Pentagon this month to show support of Selfridge Air National Guard Base in Harrison Township. The letter to Defense Secretary Leon Panetta comes at a time when the base is in danger of losing of hundreds of jobs under an Air Force proposal. It is signed by Macomb County Executive Mark Hackel, Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson, Wayne County Executive Robert Ficano and Detroit Mayor Dave Bing. Nearly 400 part-time and 200 full-time positions could be lost if the Air Force proposal to eliminate the A-10 squadron at the Macomb County base is approved. A memorial service has been scheduled for stuntman Todd Green who died Sunday from injuries sustained in a fall at the Selfridge Air Show.
Selfridge Air Show officials said Tuesday they are waiting for the results of a federal investigation into a fatal accident before determining whether any changes will be made to the popular show in Harrison Township, MI. "We would be waiting for the results of the investigation, as far as seeing if anything would change for act selections." Capt. After a Selfridge Air Show stuntman fell 200 feet during the widely attended event, shocked and saddened witnesses and other event followers expressed their thoughts on the show's Facebook page.
Immediately after a wing walker fell 200 feet Sunday afternoon at the Selfridge Air Show when a stunt went awry, scores of comments were left on the event's Facebook page to express shock and sadness. Many of the posters witnessed the tragedy that claimed the life of Todd Green on Sunday. The Selfridge Air Show and Open House Facebook page stated that about 1:30 p.m. Sunday, wing walker Green was flying on John Mohr's Stearman biplane "when he fell off the plane as he attempted to transfer from his aircraft to a helicopter. He fell about 200 feet to the ground." Here are some of the comments left on the Facebook page. On the Macomb Patch Facebook page, two people said they witnessed the tragic accident.
