Grosse Pointe Shores to Park Pursuit Ends in Double Arrest

Two men St. Clair Shores police believe are responsible for robbing an 85-year-old woman a parking lot were arrested Monday night after a multi-city pursuit spanning Grosse Pointe Shores to Grosse Pointe Park.

Grosse Pointe Shores, Park, Farms and City police officers assisted Monday night in a pursuit down Lake Shore Road that ended with the arrest of two men believed to be responsible for robbing an 85-year-old woman in the parking lot of a St. Clair Shores Kroger. The public safety risk was that the driver of the car repeatedly drove off the roadway onto lawns and sidewalks to avoid being caught by police, he said. It all started shortly before 7 p.m. when St. Clair Shores police issued a radio call to area departments alerting them to a robbery at the Kroger on 9 Mile and Greater Mack Avenue. St. Clair Shores police shared information …

It is likely that this man became addicted so heavily and quickly that he could have built up to this level in a matter of weeks. The guy is only 21. It is generally after years of abuse that drug as addicts look like quintessential addicts. This is a sad, sad story & a testament to how dangerous a threat drugs are to our youth.   more ›

Parents, Friends Search for Missing Grosse Pointe Farms Teenager

Chloe Ann Pittel took clothing, $200, her 10-pound, terrier mix dog, Gylfie, medication and a flat iron for her hair Aug. 31 before leaving her Grosse Pointe Farms house. She's not been seen since and her parents are beginning to canvass the area. UPDATE

Michelle and Wayne Pittel, along with a team of friends and family, are heading to Gratiot Avenue in Roseville today to post missing child posters and canvass the area for their 17-year-old daughter, Chloe Ann Pittel.  They've also started a Facebook page, MISSING CHILD CHLOE PITTEL. Chloe is with her dog, a 10-pound terrier mix named Gylfie, who is small enough to fit in her purse. Other than a red retractable leash, her parents don't believe she took other supplies for the dog.  Chloe is 5-foot-4, 100 pounds, white with dirty blond hair, green/hazel eyes, dark brown eyebrows and is likely wearing jeans and sandals. She is also carrying a charcoal gray or blue purse and likely has a bag with her clothing and other possessions. "She is …

Grosse Pointe Farms Residents Question Homeland Security Tower, Camera, Radar

The Grosse Pointe Farms City Council approved the 60-foot tower and a camera to monitor Lake St. Clair for illegal immigrants trying to enter the country but Border Patrol also wants a radar.

Despite concerns voiced by residents of Rose Terrace Street, a 60-foot tower with several embellishments has been installed behind the Grosse Pointe Club for the eventual monitoring of Lake St. Clair for illegal immigrants trying to enter the country. A 60-foot tower was approved by the Grosse Pointe Farms council as a special variance to the normal height restriction of 55 feet. The tower, as presented to the city council, is intended to hold a high-powered camera as a measure of border security. Lake St. Clair is bordered by the United States and Canada, which is close enough to the Grosse Pointes and Detroit that it can be seen across the lake.  The private club, known more commonly as the Little Club, entered into a lease agreement …
