The Optimist Club of St. Clair Shores will host their 15th Champions Banquet to honor local champions May 8 at the Blossom Heath Inn.
The Optimist Club of St. Clair Shores will recognize six citizens who have made a positive impact on the community May 8 at the annual Champions Banquet at the Blossom Heath Inn. The Optimists define a champion as "someone who has talent, courage, and tenacity - a person who fights for or defends any person or cause," according to a release for the banquet which includes dinner, entertainment and an awards presentation to the Champions. Organizers of the inaugural Pirates Ball have cancelled the event scheduled for May 3.
Ahoy mateys, organizers have cancelled the inaugural Pirates Ball at Blossom Heath Inn. Due to a lack of ticket sales, the event scheduled for May 3 has been cancelled. Organizers are contacting ticket holders, and those who did not leave contact information, can get their refund at Steve's Backroom.

Capt. Jack Sparrow attended a recent St. Clair Shores City Council meeting to invite people to the inaugural Pirates Ball, which is a fundraiser for the St. Clair Shores Memorial Day Parade.
Capt. Jack Sparrow recently gave fair warning that the pirates are coming to St. Clair Shores - but for a good cause. Members of the Detroit Pirates, who have participated in the St. Clair Shores Memorial Day Parade along with Sparrow, will attend the first Pirate Ball from 6 p.m. - midnight, May 3, at Blossom Heath Inn. The event hosted by the Nautical Mile Merchants Association and is a fundraiser annual parade. Tickets are $45 each and include dinner (yes there will be turkey legs), music, dancing and auctions to benefit the parade. Tickets are available at Steve's Backroom. It was a gala affair Wednesday at the Blossom Heath Inn as members of St. Clair Shores' philanthropic groups, schools officials, business and elected officials gathered for the annual Poinsettia Ball.
The St. Clair Shores community gathered Wednesday night for the Optimist Club of St. Clair Shores' Poinsettia Ball at Blossom Heath Inn. The annual ball brings together the various groups for one holiday party instead of having individual events. While the event is a chance for adults to celebrate, it was also an opportunity to benefit a good cause. Guests brought new, unwrapped toys for children who receive items from the St. Clair Shores Cops for Kids program.

Families, local school officials, local and county elected officials came together Wednesday to honor, and celebrate, students and volunteers at the Optimist Club of St. Clair Shores annual Champions Banquet at Blossom Heath Inn. Club officials said 230 people attended the banquet which honored: In addition to honoring students and members of the community, the banquet was a fundraiser for the club.

Nearly 20 restaurants from St. Clair Shores and surrounding communities will be participating in the Nautical Nibble, which is the biggest fundraiser of the year for the Lake St. Clair Symphony Orchestra.
Foodies and supporters of the Lake St. Clair Symphony Orchestra can enjoy unique selections from 19 restaurants from across St. Clair Shores and the region at Tuesday's Nautical Nibble at Blossom Heath. "We are just a small group and this is our biggest fundraiser of the year," said Jack Lawrence, president of the Lake St. Clair Symphony Orchestra. "There will be a tremendous variety of foods we will have available." The Nautical Nibble, which is sponsored by the Tax Increment Finance Authority, is an important fundraiser for the orchestra to offset the costs of their concerts. Each concert can cost between $6,000-$8,000, Lawrence said. Tickets are $25, or two for $45, for adults, and $15 for seniors and students. Tickets will be available…

The Lake St. Clair Symphony Orchestra performs Sunday, and will host its annual Nautical Nibble taste fest Tuesday.
Supporters of the Lake St. Clair Symphony Orchestra will have two different opportunities this week to support the organization and please a variety of their senses. The orchestra will perform Sunday with a number of selections to please the ear, and then will host annual Nautical Nibble fundraiser Tuesday at the Blossom Heath Inn which features a number of dishes to please the palate. Sunday Performance The orchestra, which features members from high school to those in the 70s, will be performing a "A Step Into the Future" Sunday featuring selections from "My Fair Lady," the "Die Fledermaus Overture," and the "5th Symphony (Reformation)" by Felix Mendelssohn. Assumption Nursery School, along with St. Clair Shores Parks and Recreation, held Daddy-Daughter Dances this weekend.
This past weekend a number of fathers took to the dance floor during Daddy-Daugther dances. Assumption Nursery School held their first Daddy-Daughter Dance Friday at the school, and Sunday, Blossom Heath was sold-out for the Parks and Recreation annual dance.
