Registration is now open for boys and girls in third through eighth grade for the upcoming St. Clair Shores Parks and Recreation youth basketball season.
Boys and girls in third through eighth grades can now register for the upcoming St. Clair Shores Parks and Recreation youth basketball season. All games are played at local schools in St. Clair Shores. The fee is $60 and includes a team shirt and photo. The deadline to register for freshmen and junior varsity teams are Nov. 25. Varsity is Dec. 23. Practices begin in December, with games starting in January and ending in April. For more information, call (586) 445-5350.

Shields, Tilney, Greer all earn honors for the Huskies boys basketball team.
The Lakeview boys basketball team had plenty to celebrate this season. The team, which had one of its most successful season in recent years, held its annual banquet on Monday at Lakeview High School. The Huskies posted their second winning season in 30-plus years, according to Lakeview coach John Carr. The Huskies finished with a 12-9 overall record and went 10-4 in the Macomb Area Conference Silver Division. Lakeview’s Robert Shields earned MVP honors for the MAC Silver, and teammates Gary Tilney and Geno Greer were named to the all-league team.

Lakeview boys basketball team defeated Center Line 65-52 on Tuesday.
Led by Robert Shields, the Lakeview boys basketball team rolled to a 65-52 victory over Center Line on Tuesday. Shields recorded 20 points and five steals for Lakeview, and Geno Greer scored 19 points for the Huskies. Alex Galant added 12 points, and Lakeview coach John Carr said Alex Radu played well defensively. Semaj Foster scored 21 points for Center Line. Lakeview, which improved its record to 12-5 overall and 10-3 in the Macomb Area Conference, will play Clawson next Wednesday. The Lakeview boys basketball team assured itself of its first winning season since 2004 with a 53-46 victory over Marysville on Friday night. Robert Shields recorded 13 points, seven rebounds and five assists for the Huskies, who recorded their 11th win of the season to assure themselves of their first winning campaign in eight years. Gary Tilney added 13 points and eight rebounds for Lakeview, which improved its record to 11-5 overall and 9-3 in the Macomb Area Conference Silver Division. Lakeview recorded its 10th win of the season, marking the first time since 2004 that the Huskies reached double digits in victories. Robert Shields scored 23 points to power the Lakeview boys basketball team to a 66-54 triumph over Madison Heights Lamphere on Wednesday. Shields added eight rebounds, five assists and three steals for the Huskies, who improved to 5-2 overall and 3-0 in the MAC Silver Division. Gary Tilney contributed 14 points and eight rebounds for Lakeview, which trailed 30-28 at halftime but took charge with an 18-8 third-quarter run.
