Just Baked Opens in Grosse Pointe Woods

The cupcake specialty store will celebrate its grand opening Wednesday Dec. 7 at 10 a.m., offering a free cupcake to the first 150 customers who stop by their newest location in Grosse Pointe Woods. It is the eighth store to open in the metro area.

Pam Turkin will open the eighth location of her popular Livonia-headquartered cupcake specialty shop and bakery in Grosse Pointe Woods today. Turkin began Just Baked out of her home and has expanded over time.  She has been looking to move into the Grosse Pointe area for about a year and finally found the right location in the former Dippin Dots building at 19615 Mack Ave. nestled between Jimmy John's and Little Caesars Pizza.  Just Baked is one of several new businesses moving to Mack Avenue. Opening the Grosse Pointe location has been the fastest of all of Turkin's shops, she said, explaining the building needed very little attention to open. Bommarito Bakery: Subs, Pizza and Holiday Cheer

Bommarito Bakery has served St. Clair Shores for almost 50 years offering not only baked goods but also wine and Italian groceries. During the holiday season, Bommarito Bakery brings special items that are not available at any other time of year.

There are few places in St. Clair Shores with as much history as Bommarito Bakery. Since 1925, Bommarito has been serving the metro Detroit area.  More specifically, Bommarito moved to its Greater Mack location in 1961.  Bommarito's is a large space, but can feel crowded especially at certain times of day. Not only is it a bakery, but there is also a huge selection of wine and Italian groceries.   Coming up on their 50th anniversary in St. Clair Shores, there's no sign of popularity waning. Many of us know that you should avoid Bommarito at lunch time because there is always a wait. There is a number of reasons why the lines are always long, but the main one is the incredible Italian sub. Andrea Adams, employee and daughter of owners Grace…
