Read on to see what these five local editors in a community near you had to say from recent experience and if one or more of these short essays resonates with your family, feel free to share them. Honor your father this year by posting his sage advice on Patch.com.
We all know wisdom comes with age and life experiences... and most of our fathers have plenty of that. Growing up, dads teach us morals, ethics and do their best to guide us in the right direction. For me, some of my dad's advice went in one ear and out the other, but some things he said were forever ingrained in my brain. What's the best piece of advice your father has ever given to you? Help Patch create a slideshow of our dads and their wise words. Post a picture of your father in the media player and include his name, what city he lives in and his advice in the caption.

Happy Mother's Day! To honor moms across St. Clair Shores, we want to know what is the best advice your mother ever gave.

Our conscience sounds suspiciously like her voice and sooner or later we realize, "Shoot, mom was right after all." From haircuts to relationships, our mothers express their opinion on just about every aspect of our lives. While some can't help but be ignored, others may very well be the best advice we'll ever receive. Today we celebrate Mother's Day, and want readers of St. Clair Shores Patch to finish this sentence, "The best advice my mom ever gave me was ..." Share mom's best advice in the comments section below.
