The MAC Blue Champions, Lakeview Huskies, close out the regular season Monday at home against Sterling Heights.
The Lakeview Huskies girls soccer team won their first MAC Blue title since 2008, according to MLive, and will close at the regular season Monday at home against Sterling Heights. The Huskies, who are 14-3 overall, has "done an amazing job this year coming out focused and ready to play for each game," according to an email from Brooke Sweeney-Pouliot, Lakeview Varsity girls soccer coach. May is National Bike Month in which the public is encouraged to keep cyclists' safety in mind.
With warm weather upon us, Macomb County drivers are encouraged to keep biker safety in mind. May is National Bike Month and this week is Bike to Work Week. Although the county claims trails for cyclists and runners, including the Macomb Orchard Trail and Metro Parkway non-motorized path, bikers' rights are also crucial alongside roads. Lakeview High School coaches provided updates from recent games played by the Huskies, including softball player Taylor Genzman hitting for the cycle, with an inside the park homerun, in a victory over L'Anse Creuse North.
The following scores, and game recaps, were provided Lakeview High School coaches: Softball Lakeview Huskies topped L'Anse Creuse North in a double-header Wednesday. In game one, which Lakeview won 4-1, Taylor Genzman and Kennedy Herr both went 2 for 3 with runs scored. Beth Cooley also went 2 for 3 with an RBI. Becky Corbett took the mound for the win with 2 strikeouts and only giving up 4 hits. Lakeview topped L'Anse Creuse 14-7 in the second game, which featured Taylor Genzman going 4 for 5 and hitting the full cycle. Her inside the park home run was followed by a triple, double and ending the game with a single. She had 4 RBIs and scored 3 runs in the second game. The Lac Saint Clair Little League opened play Saturday at Kyte Monroe Park.
After a long winter, and a wet spring, teams from the Lac Saint Clair Little League took to the field Saturday at Kyte Monroe Park for the first game of the season. Teams from all age groups opened the season under sunny skies - with families watching - hitting, pitching, fielding and reuniting with friends and families. The Huskies girls tennis team Monday defeated East Detroit.
The Lakeview High School girls tennis team defeated East Detroit 8-0 Monday at a match at Jefferson Middle School Lakeview seniors Joelle Kruczek and Leah Willoughby won their singles matches 6-0, 6-0. The Huskies doubles team of Kathleen Trombley, a senior, and Rachel Stacheit, a junior, also blanked their opponents 6-0, 6-0.

St. Clair Shores will be hosting the Monster Quest VII bass tournament in June which may attract up to 100 boats to compete on Lake St. Clair, which has been named "America's best bass lake."
St. Clair Shores will be the host to the city's first major bass tournament this summer when Monster Quest VII arrives June 22 at the 9 Mile boat ramp. Organizers estimate up to 100 boats, with two people per boat who will be joined by their families on shore, are expected to participate in the event. "We are really excited," said Parks and Recreation Director Greg Esler. "It is going to bring a lot of business to the city and the Nautical Mile." The tournament is being presented by Terry Melvin and Ken Neeley who launched anglers from Harrison Township for previous events. The boats would then head down to St. Clair Shores to fish. The Lakeview High School varsity tennis team remained undefeated after the Huskies won 6-2 against Utica High School. The Huskies are scheduled to have a match at 4 p.m. Wednesday against Center Line High School. Scores provided by Colette Buckberry, Lakeview High School tennis coach.
