Organizers of the St. Clair Shores Community Open House are still accepting properties for the annual event June 2.
Local real estate-related businesses in St. Clair Shores have come together and will be showcasing nearly 40 homes throughout the city for the annual Community Open House on June 2. The event, which is designed to showcase the city to prospective home buyers, is still seeking homes to be featured. Residents looking to include their home or condominium can contact Eric Goosen at goosenrealty@aol.com by Wednesday. These homes will then be compiled into a master list that will be available at City Hall from noon to 5 p.m. June 2. Prospective buyers will be able to visit City Hall to speak with real estate agents from Keller Williams, Re/Max and Real Estate One and receive a list of homes for sale. Baseball and softball players from the Lac Saint Clair Little League recently were the guests of honor of the Toledo Mud Hens and took part in activities throughout the game at Fifth Third Field.
Lac Saint Clair Little Leaguers lived out their big league dreams recently as members of the baseball and softball teams were the guests of honor of the Toledo Mud Hens at Fifth Third Field. As part of Lac Saint Clair Little League day, nearly 450 players, their parents and family members had the chance to take part in a pre-game parade, throw out the first pitch, proclaim "play ball" and sing "Take Me Out to the Ball Game." Mark Lijek, and his wife Cora, who were two of the houseguests featured in the Oscar-winning movie "Argo," will meet with residents Saturday before appearing in Sunday's 61st Memorial Day Parade.

Those brave enough to head into local waterways this weekend can swim with confidence after the Macomb County Health Department found local beaches to have safe levels High E. coli.
The Macomb County Health Department has resumed testing the water at five public beaches twice a week for E. coli bacteria. This bacteria lives in the digestive system of humans and warm-blooded animals. If the levels of E. coli are unsafe (in excess of 300 E. coli colonies per 100 milliliters of water) swimmers could contract minor illnesses, including sore throats or diarrhea. All five beaches are open for swimming.
The 61st St. Clair Shores Memorial Day Parade will feature the traditional recognition of veterans, floats, local marching bands and community groups, and this year, two of the "Argo" houseguests.

Festivities get underway at 4 p.m. Saturday with a reception at the VFW Bruce Post #1146 for two of the "Houseguests" profiled in the Academy Award winning movie "Argo." Former U.S. diplomat Mark Lijek will be speaking about “The Houseguests: A Memoir of Canadian Courage and CIA Sorcery.” Lijek was an officer in the U.S. Army before he took a job with the U.S. Foreign Service and was in Iran in 1979 when the U.S. embassy compound in Iran was attacked. Lijek, and his wife Cora, escaped the embassy with four others and took refuge at the Canadian ambassador’s residence. The couple will be …
The high school softball teams for Lake Shore and Lakeview high schools split a doubleheader Wednesday at Kyte Monroe Park.
Lake Shore and Lakeview girls softball teams split a doubleheader Wednesday at Kyte Monroe Park. Lakeview lost the first game 10-4 in the first game, but came back to win the the second game 15-13. According to Becky Quinn, Lakeview head softball coach, the Huskies' Beth Cooley went 2 for 3 with 2 RBI, and Taylor Genzman went 2 for 4 with a double and triple and an RBI. In the second game, Lakeview's Aileen Zelinski went 2 for 3 with 5 RBIs. Becky Corbett, Joslyn Spear, and Hannah Mathies all homered in the 6th to insure the win for the Huskies, Quinn wrote. Corbett had 4 RBIs in the contest. Spear went 3 for 4 with 3 RBIs and Mathies went 2 for 3 with 2 RBI.
