Without a question the best Chinese dining experience that I've had in a very long time, not to mention in Michigan! I hear there is a new owner so you may want to disregard the older reviews.
The place is immaculate and the interior design simple, beautiful and bright. I also enjoyed the choice of acoustic piano music.
Our service was perfect.
Presentation is elegant and and the dishware unusually beautiful. I can only comment on two dishes...Steak Kow and the Gim Ling Special. Crisp, colorful vegetables accompanied by perfectly prepared chicken, shrimp and beef. The balance of vegetables, sauce and proteins was right on. The best crab rangoons EVER. Wonderful egg drop soup as well as hot and sour soup.
We will go back many times! If you are used to cheap, greasy, msg ridden, sodium filled, overcooked chinese food than I would look elsewhere.
The only downside??? I had seconds!!! Oh, and I would love to see this place add Mo Shu Chicken to the menu.

Longtime St. Clair Shores favorite, Gim Ling Restaurant is now Gim Ling Modern Asian Restaurant. The hidden gem is a delight to the senses featuring delicious food served in a bright, contemporary bistro-like atmosphere. The decor is cheery, accented with bamboo, dark wood and lotus blossom artwork. Sculptures, statues, artwork and orchid plants add interesting touches to the dining room. The menu features traditional Chinese dishes, but do not expect the norm at Gim Ling. Even the teapots and soy sauce containers are unique here. Presentation is everything and great attention is paid to detail. Entrees are artfully served on square and rectangular plates and often include unique garnishes such as tropical flowers. Customer favorites include the wonton soup, potstickers, Gim Ling Special and combination plates.

Absolutely love this place! Best lettuce wraps, great atmosphere, and service is always excellent! Best "Far East" taste on this side of town :)
I like this place a lot. I will say their night cook is better than the day cook - or at least that has been my experience. Nice place inside, really modern and fresh decor, not your typical Chinese dark, red, gold stuff. The food is good, the service is prompt and the prices are what you'd expect. When I eat Chinese food, this is where I go.
As said, forget the dingy, dark, red, green and gold interiors of your typical Chinese restaurant. This is as modern, bright and clean as it gets.
The food, service, atmosphere, portions and pricing are all excellent.
I found this gem years ago when I moved to SCS...I've tried the other shacks up and down Harper. This is the one, hands down.
The older gentleman is such a great guy. Always personable, striking up a conversation (loves to talk about the Tigers...:) )
