VFW Bruce Post Veterans Sell Poppies
Veterans are selling Buddy Poppies in Saint Clair Shores to raise funds for veterans and their dependents.
Members of the will join Boy Scout Troop 1489 to distribute poppies on National Buddy Poppy Days at the 11 Mile and Harper, 12 Mile and Harper and 13 Mile and Harper intersections on Friday and the 9 Mile and Jefferson intersection on Saturday.
Veterans and Boy Scouts will also be distributing the poppies at the St. Clair Shores Post Office, Village Market, Kroger on Marter Road, Manzellas and Joseph's Party Store.
The Buddy Poppy was inspired by Canadian Army Col. John McCrae's poem, "In Flanders Fields," which is recited at funerals where the VFW Ritual Team performs, according to VFW Bruce Post 1146 Commander Tara Perez.

A Buddy Poppy is laid on the veteran's casket and represents the blood shed by American service members, she added.
