Scholarships Available from the Waterfront Environmental Committee

High school seniors in St. Clair Shores have the opportunity to win at least two $500 scholarships from the St. Clair Shores Waterfront Environmental Committee.

The 2012-2013 school year has yet to start, but seniors scheduled to graduate can start planning for college by applying for competitive scholarships from the St. Clair Shores Waterfront Environmental Committee.

The committee, along with the We Are Here Foundation, Inc., is offering at least two $500 scholarships for members of the Class of 2013 for tutition for a two-year degree program, or a four-year university. To be eligible, high school seniors have to either live in St. Clair Shores or attend a high school in St. Clair Shores.

Students have until 4 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, to submit application materials to the office.

For students to be considered for the scholarships, applicants are asked to submit:

  • A completed application form (attached) including typed, double spaced answers to eight questions on separate sheets
  • One letter of recommendation on school letterhead from a current, or past, teacher
  • Be involved in at least one of the St. Clair Shores Waterfront Environmental Committee’s projects: Nautical Coast Cleanup, storm drain stenciling or the

"The St. Clair Shores Waterfront Environmental Committee is committed to the conservation, protection, safe use and enjoyment of Lake St. Clair for current and future generations," wrote Joe St. John, chairman of the committee, in a release.
