In Photos: Moe's Rock'n Blues Fest

Family, friends and music lovers gathered Sunday along Lake St. Clair to honor the late musician Brian "Moe" Motyka, and raise awareness to hopefully catch his killer.

In life, Brian "Moe" Motyka brought together audiences for the love of music.

Motyka played guitar with many local greats and national names including George Clinton.

But his life was cut short Oct. 6, 2011, when he was shot and killed on the Hamtramck-Detroit border on his way to play at the Harbor House in Detroit.

His death shocked his family and friends, and left them searching for answers and his killer.

While the case appears to have gone cold, the music community and his relatives are not giving up hope that his killer will be found.

On Sunday, local musicians donated their time and efforts for a day of music at the  to , and raise funds for the memorial fund named after the musician.

"He was a gifted musician," his brother John Motyka said during fundraiser. "(The concert) will never bring him back, but it will keep his memory alive."

In addition to the wide variety of music, there was a BBQ and Polish food from Moe's mom "Mama Moe," inflatable play scapes, games and prizes.

Anyone with information about the crime is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-Speak Up.
