A record number of golfers took to the links Monday at Gowanie Golf Club for the annual GTJ Foundation Golf Outing.
This is the fourth year for the outing, which is organized by the GTJ Foundation which also has held charity hockey games with the Red Wings Alumni at Civic Arena.
Brandon Johnson, foundation president, said the event was sold out two weeks ago.
"We had to turn people away," he said.
Johnson estimated more than $20,000 would be raised for Wigs 4 Kids, which provides children and young adults throughout Michigan suffering from hair loss, usually due to a serious medical challenge like cancer, with a wig and support services.
