In Photos: Scouts Help Goodfellows Prepare Gift Baskets

Scouts from across the city have helped the St. Clair Shores Goodfellows sell newspapers, collect and sort food, then assemble and deliver gift baskets to families in need throughout the city.

A dedicated group of Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts from across the city have volunteered to make sure there is "no kiddie without a Christmas" in St. Clair Shores.

The Scouts, along with their families and friends, joined the St. Clair Shores Goodfellows Thursday to sort donated food and then assemble gift baskets Friday.

Christmas eve morning, the Scouts joined the Goodfellows to deliver 135 baskets to families throughout the city.

"We truly have a good group of kids and citizens in the community," said Mike Koch, president of the St. Clair Shores Goodfellows.

Greg Alter, Scoutmaster for Troop 1479 at Masonic Heights Elementary, said the Scouts learn about community service and helping others.

"They look forward to this every year," he said. "They block time out (of their vacations) every year for this."
