Hit the Links for Care House, Special Needs Kids and the Marines This Week

Golf outings will be held this week to benefit Care House of Macomb County, St. Clair Shores Special Needs Program and the Detroit Area Marines.

Duffers looking to hit links have a number of charity outings this week to choose from and help a variety of organizations.

The GTJ Foundation will host its Annual Golf Outing Monday at Gowanie Country Club in Harrison Township. Last year, the St. Clair Shores-based foundation raised $27,500 was Wigs 4 Kids. This year, the charity golfers will be playing for will be Care House of Macomb County. The mission of the organization is to prevent and reduce the incidence and trauma of child sexual and physical abuse in Macomb County. Spots may be sold out for the golf outing which starts at 1 p.m., but supporters can still attend the dinner following the event. The St. Clair Shores Golf Club will host the Special Needs Golf Tournament on Wednesday, Aug. 7. The $100 per person entry fee includes a continental breakfast, an 8 a.m. shotgun start and a steak dinner. There are also a number prizes for closest to the pin, long drive and tournament champions. The Detroit Area Marines will host a fundraising golf scramble Saturday, Aug. 10, at the Selfridge Golf Club at Selfridge Air National Guard Base. Registration starts at 11 a.m. with a 1 p.m. shotgun start. There is an entry fee of $70 which includes a driving range with a bucket of balls, green fee for 18 holes, golf cart, buffet dinner, hot dog lunch at the turn and a gift bag. Those in the military, or
non-military, can attend the on-base event which raises funds for Detroit Area Marines (DAM) Good Friends, which is a committee that raises money and
