Firefighters Raise Funds for Wigs 4 Kids

hosted a unique group of bartenders for a cause Thursday night.

Members of the Harper Woods Firefighter-Paramedics IAFF Local 1188 were joined by firefighters from St. Clair Shores and Eastpointe to tend bar for the union's Fill the Helmet for Cancer fundraiser to benefit .

The firefighters, regulars and others raised $855 in one hour for the charity which provides wigs and support services free of charge to children and young adults experiencing hair loss due to illness.

"It's an honor to help Wigs 4 Kids, as all they ever do is help others," David Micallef,  IAFF Local 1188 president, wrote on the St. Clair Shores Patch Facebook wall.
