One Macomb County Beach Closed This Weekend

The Macomb County Health Department found New Baltimore Park beach to have unsafe levels of E. coli bacteria.

The Macomb County Health Department tests the water at five public beaches twice a week for E. coli bacteria.
New Baltimore Park Beach is closed this weekend for swimming due to high bacteria levels.
The other four beaches are open for swimming.

E. col bacteria lives in the digestive system of humans and warm-blooded animals. If the levels of E. coli are unsafe (in excess of 300 E. coli colonies per 100 milliliters of water) swimmers could contract minor illnesses, including sore throats or diarrhea.
