Southeast Michigan Fishing Report

Planning to go fishing in Lake St. Clair, and throughout southeast Michigan, this weekend? The Michigan DNR recently released their weekly fishing report for the region:

Lake St. Clair: Had good perch reports from Anchor Bay and south of Metro Beach. Limits of rock bass were caught at night near Blossom Health in St. Clair Shores.

Detroit River: Walleye fishing has been very good when the weather cooperates. Anglers are bouncing jigs during the day and hand-lining at night.

St. Clair River: Boat and shore anglers have caught a few walleye, coho, brown trout and steelhead along the wall. Walleye were caught near Marine City.

Lake Erie: Anglers are targeting walleye in 15 to 17 feet of water around Turtle Island and the Dumping Grounds. Those trolling body baits seem to catch more but those jigging with blade baits and hair jigs also caught fish. Purple and chrome or white were good colors. As the water warms, try crawler harnesses.

Lexington: Those trolling caught chinook, coho, brown trout, lake trout and steelhead. Most are using planer boards in 20 to 50 feet of water. Pier anglers caught brown trout and coho but the bite was slow.

Harbor Beach: Those fishing outside the breakwall caught coho, lake trout, brown trout and steelhead in 30 feet of water.

Port Austin: Pier anglers caught Atlantic and coho salmon. Walleye were caught in the evening but catch rates slowed with the cooler weather.

Saginaw Bay: A few walleye were caught two to three miles northwest of Spoils Island as well as around the island and the shipping channel.
