South Lake Repeats City Champ Reign

The win qualifies South Lake for the state football playoffs for the second year in a row, and crowned the Cavaliers repeat "city champs" with the victory over the Huskies and a 22-0 defeat of Lake Shore on Sept. 16.  

The game was played in inclement weather conditions, with driving rain with temperatures in the mid-40s and winds near 20 miles per hour, according to weather.com.

Despite the strong winds, South Lake's offense attacked on the ground and in the air.

Bradley Mitchell started the scoring with a 23-yard run in the first quarter. With seconds remaining in the first, Ghay'len Hammons caught a 14-yard touchdown reception to put the Cavaliers up 14-0.

Defense controlled the second and most of the third quarters, until Marcus Anderson caught a 38-yard reception to put South Lake up 21-0. 

Nearly one minute into the fourth quarter Anderson scored another touchdown on a 65-yard punt return to put the Cavaliers ahead 27-0.

South Lake stingy defense continued Friday by shutting out Lakeview. The Cavaliers have only allowed six points all season.

The Cavaliers head to Clawson Friday for their only road game of the year.
