Teams, whether they like to admit it or not, are beginning to look ahead to the state playoffs just a few weeks from away.

This time of year is, for most prep sports fans, the start of a monthlong stretch that includes league-title chases, state playoff runs, and, in rare cases, state championships.

So, let’s not waste any time getting this exciting time of year underway.

I have to say, however, before I get started here with the upcoming week, let’s take a second and congratulate the Lady Huskies softball team for a thrilling, important .

The win keeps the squad in the mix in the Macomb Area Conference White Division, just two game behind division-leading Utica High.

Kudos also to the softball squad from who climbed atop the MAC Silver with a huge win over Fitzgerald last week.

Great job, ladies.

Now, on with the business at hand- the upcoming week.

  • Lakeview softball vs. Utica High, May 17, at home, 4:30 p.m. As we mentioned earlier, this is a match-up between the top two teams in the division. Utica High comes in with a two-game lead but Huskies have been playing well, and will look to cut that lead in half. This one promises to be a great softball game.
  • baseball vs L’Anse Creuse North, Monday, May 16, at home, 4 p.m. The Crusaders are clinging to that top spot in the MAC White, but Lake Shore is close behind. A victory over LCN would help put the atop the MAC White in a race that is tight and heated.
