Firefighters from the Shores and neighboring communities raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Members of the St. Clair Shores traded their firefighting garb for softball uniforms Sunday morning to raise money for a very worthy cause - the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

"It's the third year we've done this, " St. Clair Shores firefighter Scott Campbell said. "It's a lot of fun and it's for a really good cause."

The squad invites fire departments from surrounding communities to participate in the event and Sunday morning, Harper Woods Fire Department was the opponent.

"We play for a trophy, but, of course, that's not what it's all about," Campbell said. "But, if there's a trophy involved, firefighters will want to win it."

The squad has raised nearly $10,000 for MDA over the past several years.
