Kiwanis Harper Charity Cruise

Classic car enthusiasts in Metro Detroit are gearing up for the Annual Kiwanis Harper Charity Cruise on the last Wednesday in August between Old Eight Mile Road and Martin Road (11 1/2 Mile), St. Clair Shores, Michigan.  While this family friendly cruise is a fun event where you can see all kinds of classic cars in motion, it is also the biggest fundraiser for Shorewood Kiwanis.  The proceeds from this event benefit charities and projects in our community, including C.A.R.E., Tree of Hope, Wigs 4 Kids, St. Clair Shores Cultural Commission, Eastpointe Lions Club, Macomb Chamber Music Society concerts at Wahby Park, Special Needs Ice Show, Special Needs Fishing Derby, Michigan Kiwanis Foundation (which serves 4 Children's Hospitals throughout the State of Michigan), Scholarships for students of five school districts, Young Mother's Closet at the Macomb County Health Dept., Thanksgiving Baskets for deserving St. Clair Shores families, Back to School clothing program for underserved children (with help from Kmart), and the Dictionary Project (with help from First State Bank).

The Kmart parking lot at 9 Mile and Harper will feature the Roseville High School Auto Shop students with the car that won them national acclaim and high honors at the Autorama and Chicago car shows.

While the cruising cars are the main event, the Karing Klowns will be making balloon hats and animals and passing out Cruise coloring books at Joe's Trailer Sales at 24953 Harper for the enjoyment of children visiting the Cruise.  This is the only location where child-size official cruise T-shirts will be sold.

The Harper Charity Cruise is made possible by dedicated volunteers, the City of St. Clair Shores, who allows us to hold this event, and generous donations by area businesses, many of whom also host sanctioned parties throughout the cruise route.
