This annual ceremony kicks off the boating season in St. Clair Shores.
The blessing of "friendship and safety" is open to Jefferson Yacht Club members, non-members, boaters and non-boaters.

The ceremony takes place in the harbor of Beach Grill where boaters can drive their boats and dock - and non-boaters can drive - for the program which features a flag raising ceremony, bagpipers, songs, inspirational speeches and non-denominational blessings for a safe 2012 boating season.
Boaters will depart following the ceremony for the lake and participate in the wreath ceremony.

The event also recently received a proclamation from City Council that recognized the Jefferson Yacht Club for their sponsorship of the event and thanked "the many boaters who attend the event for their continuing patronage of St. Clair Shores recreational facilities and businesses."
