Willoughby Has Fighting Spirit for Huskies

First-time varsity tennis player and St. Clair Shores Lakeview sophomore won her flight in the MAC Silver Division tournament.

Leah Willoughby is a strong and positive addition to the Lakeview Huskies' tennis squad this season.

The sophomore had a great run at the on May 11. She won all three of her matches with strong showings, placing first in her respective flight (No. 4 singles). Her scores were (6-2), (6-2, 6-3) and (6-2, 6-3).

Willoughby is a first-year varsity player for Lakeview this season.

"Leah is a natural athlete and her tennis abilities are improving rapidly," Lakeview tennis coach Colette Buckberry said. "Since the beginning of the season, she has proven through her actions and commitment to the team that she is determined and willing to work hard."

In addition to her athleticism and determination, the rookie also has a good head on her shoulders.

"Leah has a fighting spirit that keeps her motivated to constantly improve," said Buckberry. "She keeps her head up and maintains a positive attitude, a trait that is also shared by all of her teammates." 

Willoughby's overall record this season at N0. 4 singles is 5-2.
