- Whiz kid’s age: South Lake High School class of 2011.
- Whiz kid’s accomplishment: Salutatorian of the South Lake High School Class of 2011. Leigh achieved a grade point average of 4.079 and will attend Wayne State University, majoring in chemistry and psychology. The daughter of Scott and Christine Slater, Leigh was involved in a multitude of extracurricular activities, including Student Congress, National Honor Society, Students Against Destructive Decisions, Generation of Promise, Relay for Life, and varsity basketball, softball and volleyball.
- Whiz kid’s key to awesomeness: “Leigh was an exemplary student both in academics and in her actions,” said Lauren Wells, former assistant principal at South Lake High School. “As president of Student Congress, Leigh worked hard to organize various activities for the student body, including homecoming and spirit weeks. She also was president of the National Honor Society, and she participated in community service projects that helped our school and community.”
