What School Supplies Do Your Children Need?

Fill up your child's backpack with suggested school supplies before classes start.

School starts this week in St. Clair Shores, and before the first bell rings, make sure your child has all the supplies he or she needs in their backpacks.

The following elementary schools have links to the suggested items lists:

 

The elementary teaching staff at Lakeview has created a link with suggested items list for students attending the district's three elementary schools this school year.

South Lake

South Lake has a suggested supply list for the coming school year:

Suggested kindergarten supplies for community use, and individual items should not be labeled:

  • 1 box quart or gallon Ziploc baggies
  • 1 container Purell hand sanitizer
  • 2 containers of Clorox cleaning wipes
  • 1 box tissues
  • 1 box of 24 crayons
  • 1, three-pack Ticonderoga Beginner pencils
  • 1 coloring book
  • 1 backpack, no wheels, labeled with student's name

Suggested first-grade items:

  • 24 #2 pencils with erasers
  • 1 package of pencil-top erasers
  • 1 pair of scissors
  • Colored pencils
  • 1 box of crayons, no more than 24 count
  • 2 boxes of tissues, 200 count
  • Glue sticks or Elmers glue
  • 1 activity or coloring book
  • 1 backpack or tote bag, no wheels
  • 1 box of Band-Aids
  • Gallon Ziploc bags
  • Clorox wipes

Suggested second-grade supply list:

  • Pencils, at least 24, sharpened
  • 2 erasers, Pink Pearl
  • Pencil-top erasers
  • 24-pack crayons, no larger
  • Scissors, Fiskars kid size
  • 3 large bottles of glue and 3 large glue sticks
  • 1 backpack, nonrolling
  • 2 boxes of tissues
  • 1 roll of paper towels
  • 1 eight-ounce bottle of antibacterial hand soap
  • 1 container of Clorox disinfectant wipes for surfaces
  • 1 bottle of hand sanitizer
  • 1 box of plain Band-Aids, no characters

Suggested third-grade supply list:

  • Zipped pencil/crayon bag (please avoid pencil boxes)
  • 4, two-pocket folders, one blue, red, yellow and green to be used as Friday folder
  • 2, three-subject wide-ruled spiral notebooks
  • 4, one-subject wide-ruled spiral notebooks
  • At least four 12-packs of #2 pencils, 1 package of pencil-top erases
  • Hand-held pencil sharpener
  • Low odor dry-erase markers, avoid red because it stains the white board
  • Colored pencils
  • Scissors
  • 2, one-inch binders
  • 2 boxes of crayons, at least a 24 pack
  • 10 glue sticks
  • Four boxes of tissues
  • A backpack or tote bag
  • Any consumable activity or coloring book (to be used during indoor recess time)
  • Two containers of Clorox wipes
  • Baby wipes
  • One box of gallon, sandwich and quart-size Ziploc bags

Suggested fourth-grade supply list:

  • Folder to be used as a homework folder
  • 1, 1 1/2 inch binder
  • 4 boxes of pencils
  • Handheld pencil sharpener
  • A couple of colored pens or felt-tip markers for checking work
  • Crayons and/or markers
  • Student-size scissors
  • Dry erase white board marker
  • 1 permanent marker
  • An old sock or cloth to use as an eraser on white boards
  • Small pencil box or pencil bag
  • A ruler with centimeters and inches
  • 3 glue sticks
  • Pink Pearl-type eraser
  • Pencil-top erasers
  • Activity or coloring book for indoor recess
  • A roll of paper towels
  • 4 boxes of Kleenex
  • 2 Clorox-brand cleanup wipes
  • Students are asked to not to purchase Trapper Keepers.

  • 1, three-ring black binder, approximately 1 inch thick with hard sides
  • 1, three-ring blue binder, approximately 1 inch thick with hard sides
  • 1 ream of wide-ruled lined paper
  • Red pens or markers for checking
  • Pencils
  • Handheld pencil sharpener
  • Erasers
  • Glue sticks and liquid glue
  • Ruler
  • Scissors
  • Crayons, small box
  • Colored pencils, small box with 8-12 pencils
  • Skinny markers, small box with 8-12 markers
  • Pencil case or box
  • 2 large boxes of tissues
