St. Isaac Jogues Football Teams Had a Winning Weekend

The St. Isaac Jogues varsity football team improved to 2-1 on the season with a victory over

football teams took the field Saturday for games against teams from throughout Metro Detroit.
 
The flag football teams played two games at home against two teams from , splitting the series with one win and one loss.
 
The freshman Charger football team also played at home against the Crusaders of Our Lady of Good Counsel, but were defeated. The freshman are 1-1 this season.
 
The Charger junior varsity and varsity football teams traveled to Allen Park to take on the Loins of St Frances Cabrini.
 
According to parent Robert Harr, the Junior Varsity team had a hard-hitting defensive stand at the end of the game to keep their winning streak alive at three. The Chargers won 28-20 and remain undefeated this season.

The Charger varsity football team brought their season record to two wins and one loss.
 
Joe Lietzow led his team to a 44-22 victory over the St Frances Cabrini Lions.  According to Harr, Lietzow did a good job as quarterback, but it was his outstanding defensive performance that is worth mentioning. He had six tackles, three assists and lead the team with two interceptions.
 
Scott Nelson had another dazzling display of athletic ability scoring five of the team's six touchdowns, and an equally impressive defensive effort with six tackles, three assists and one interception, Harr reported. He ended the first half with a 65-yard kickoff return for a touchdown tying the score at 22.
 
Joe Charrette scored one touchdown and recorded three tackles, five assists and one fumble recovery. Kicker John Lizza scored eight points, converting four of six extra point attempts. Harr stated in an email "the whole team showed just how tough they are in the fourth quarter putting up 22 unanswered points." 
 
St. Isaac Jogues returns to their home field Saturday at for games including:

  • 1 p.m. flag football takes on St. Joan of Arc
  • 2 p.m. junior varsity plays Ann Arbor Saints
  • 4:30 p.m. varsity plays Ann Arbor Saints
